Hello everyone. I am new to this form and to programming. I hope to learn a lot here and I look forward to chatting with all of you. I don't know if this is the proper place to ask this but can anyone recommend a good language for a beginner that is fairly easy to learn but is not OS specific. Thanks
New Guy Here!

Hey dark_man, welcome to CodeCall! Do you have any prior experience with programming? I recommend C, C++, Python or Java to begin with. All of those are cross-platform languages.

I haven't read a good book for C/C++ in a while. Are you more interested in web development or desktop development?

Hi. Sorry it took me so long to respond but I am making some changes on my system. I am more interested in desktop development.

Learn C, C++, or Assembly. Don't waste your time with anything else.
Also ignore any and all comments having to do with .NET, all of those individuals have been brainwashed.

So do you run a nix machine! :D
And I'd flow with Python just because it is "Sexy" as Meth0dz states, and I seem to agree.
