But Paintshop Pro isn't free, either! :(

He didn't ask for free alternatives. I think PSP is $60 while PS is $600...

That's cheaper, I guess. I was talking about free alternatives before, though, so...

Anyway, PSP sounds cheapish. Is it decent?

I see. The Gimp is the only free one I know about (Paint.NET isn't really an alternative to PS). PSP isn't bad at all really. In some ways it is actually easier to use than PS but it doesn't offer as many options as PS.

PS seems massive on features, though. And I've created the graphics for Xav's TestBed in Paint.NET. Everything takes ages and is difficult, not to mention impossible sometimes, but I manage.

I used to be heavy into photomanipulation, all previous works can be found at my old deviantArt.

Kind of left that scene for 3D modeling and texturing and minor graphic design though. :/

Btw, anyone who can't get their hands on Photoshop could always look into the superb Open-Source choice; The GNU Image Manipulation Program (TheGIMP)

I've seen some people pull some impressive results out of that program.
I myself couldn't even bother with it after having all of Adobe's well defined tools at my finger tips...but some can do it.

GIMP only received a 3-star rating, which puts it on the same level as Paint.NET in a computer magazine.
