Why are there so few macintosh games available? I think they should at least be as many as console or PC games.

LOL @ Xav

I think theirs not a lot of games for Macs because their used more for businesses/ productivity but I could be wrong.

From what I used Macs for, I used it for web design in school, audio editing, video editing and word processing.

If you want to get lots of game for Mac, get vmware fusion and install linux or windows or solaris or some other operating system :D

But their are games for mac:

I had cross country canada, math circus 1 and 2, chess, checkers a few others. I don't have a Mac so i don't really care how many games are available :D

If you go to sourceforge.net, go to the games section, and filter by Mac, you will find a LOT of games.

Why would they make a lot of games for Mac? Like 5 percent of the computing population uses it, and if you are going to use it it's probably for some kind of graphics type work.

Why would you think that there would be the same amount available as for a console system or PCs?

Exactly, Macs aren't used for games a lot, their more used for graphics, audio or some kind of web design work and by businesses a lot, so they don't really need a lot of games.

Though WingedPanther, is right sourgeforge has a lot of Mac games on it.

Most of the people creating games there are Linux enthusiasts. Because Mac OS X is based on FreeBSD, many of the games are easily ported to Mac or run natively because of POSIX compliance. It's actually the Windows list that's kind of short.

On sourceforge.net, they aren't commercial games (except things like open-sourcing quake 3, etc)

Age of Empire's III was a good game on the mac.

In other news, the OSX port of Wine can run almost every windows game I've ever tried on it, with some networking issues. Most linux games can be ported fairly easily, since OSX provides a X Windows server if you install it (2nd OSX setup disc has the package.)

Better yet, if you want more native mac games .... get to work!
