If pro is the opposite of con, is Congress the opposite of progress?

Among my many habits is spending about a half hour a day reading political commentary. Congress's approval ratings are in the toilet, and all they can think of to do is tax the oil companies like they wouldn't just pass that tax on to the consumers? Congress isn't doing anything positive, at least.

America needs to be concerned about the country moving towards a socialist society... First, the owner of the business is taxed, 2nd the employee is income taxed, 3rd the money is charged a sales tax. Our money is taxed a total of 40% on average. That doesnt include bonus or commission tax which is charged about 32% off the top....

I was thinking about getting onto my soapbox, but decided against it. Suffice it to say I see a LOT of stupidity in government.
