yea it could be. I found this from wikipedia:

"The first TCP/IP-wide area network was made operational by January 1, 1983 when all hosts on the ARPANET were switched over from the older NCP protocols to TCP/IP"

As for the network itself,
"The USSR's launch of Sputnik spurred the United States to create the Advanced Research Projects Agency, known as ARPA, in February 1958 to regain a technological lead"

Well, in 1991 (when I started college) the internet was alive and well, though the HTTP protocol wasn't really used much (if at all). That's 17 years ago (dang, I'm getting old). Considering the size of it at that time (global, almost all universities on it), I'd say it could easily have been 8 years old at the time.

So 17 years + 8 years that's 25 years old.

So maybe that is true... hmm interesting.

ARPANET is not considered as internet?

I suppose it could be true, about 25 years the internet has been around. :o Not a long time. Wasn't ARPANET the first internet like? What I learned the internet was a way to connect universities across the United States together. Wow, it really did grow. The the internet has only been a part of my life for a few years actually.

Yeah, why doesn't the ARPANET count as internet? I mean, it was the first thing that started internet. Ok, as someone explained, the 'new' internet is using TCP/IP, but this is how old is the internet, now how old is TCP/IP.

Yeah TCP/IP is simply a protocol, shouldn't be considered the start of the internet. Although its standardization did increase the vastness of the internet.
