Hi-
I am probably one of the younger people on the Forums...a high school Junior. I took a class that taught C++, and in a class of 35 people I was one of 3 to receive an award. I am learning Java to program a modest game with my friends this summer. I will be taking AP Computer Science next year and hopefully at that point I will become even more useful to fellow users.
I am also interning at a large hospital as an IT guy. I do desktop support, helping fix software and hardware problems on any of the hundreds of computers that we maintain. Thanks for this site. It is a tremendous resource.

You're not that young, I'm 17 and I think Xav is like 15 or something. And I know there are quite a few other people around this age.

That's good to know that I'm not alone. I think that the hard part about programming is figuring out what to learn. You have to figure out what is in demand and what is relevant. That way you don't spend/waste a lot of time learning a language that you can't use.
I decided to go switch from C++ to Java because it seemed like where the industry was going. Any thoughts on this subject? What things have you learned and what are you learning?
P.S. When it has a title under your name that says something like "Programmer" or "Guru", how do you get those? Are they assigned by mods?; do you have to have a certain amount of posts, rating, or just general presence?....

great to have a new person to the forum. I think the industry has somewhat switched but there is still a great use for c++. I personally prefer Java.
the code is with you

Welcome to CodeCall, Liam!
Yes, it's true, we do actually have a lot of young people in here.
