Well.. we all know that most laptops only have 2 normal speakers... good, but not good enough to let you FEEL the music! So, what are the best settings using Equilizers, SRS WOW plugins, etc.... to get the most out of them. My best so far are go to the control panel, click the sound icon, select your speakers, click configure and set them as quadraphonic. The sound gets a little louder and better in my case. Anyone got better ideas?

I'm interested to know any tips as well. On my new laptop the sound is very low turned all the way up.

Nah, I have a USB headset that I sometimes use. But I'd like to have some good sound out of the laptop speakers.

My old laptop speakers were tiny but the sound worked great (XP). This new laptop has speakers bigger than any I've seen on most common laptops and yet the sound is very low. I have to keep the volume on full to hear anything. I wonder if this has something to do with Vista rather than the hardware though.

Did you configure the sound settings properly?

Apparently not because I didn't change any software settings other than the mixer.

Try setting them as quadraphonic, I noticed some difference in sound when I setted them that way.

Laptop speakers emit a dry, tinny sound. They should not be used for anything other than the occasional system bleep. A decent pair of headphones are a must (or external speakers if your laptop rests at home for a lot of the time).

Your statement is completely false Xav. I've had and seen several laptops that have very good audio output.

Agreed with Jordan. One of my friends owns a Toshiba, the sound is just great! The speakers are quite big though.

My laptop speakers are quite loud and good, but you can't compare them with my desktop's 5.1 surround system ;)

Hmm. I dunno how much you know about sound, but it takes an expert to define the differences in quality between them (not me). From what I've seen from laptops, they all seem to share the common poor sound quality. I suppose there must be a couple of decent models, but for the most part I think they're pretty bad at outputting sound.
