I may try it. One question I have is, can you swich between the two Operating Systems without re booting your computer? I would like to keep linux on it to run a few thing vista won't but i don't like having to keep selecting vista from the list of available OS

No, this is not possible with two operating systems installed via two partitions. You can, however, use Virtual PC or VMWare to boot Linux or Vista from inside either of the operating systems. Depending on your version of Vista you may have free Virtual PC license.
