It sucks, the only thing I've done is a script to print the current year. :D Ok, I did some other stuff as well. ;)

Programming skills can always be better. :) Well you've done more than I have. I haven't done much practical use of JavaScript. OK, I haven't done much of anything practical at all. lol

I find programming books make the concepts seem pointless. Why would I want to read a string "Hello, World" and replace "Hello" with "Goodbye"?

Perhaps your reading the wrong books. There are many programming books that already assume you have knowledge of the language - and therefore will teach you concepts you did not know.

Perhaps that is true. Do you know of any, that aren't for beginners? I only have the beginner ones apparently, and they are quite boring, and don't really help at all. :(
