Hello Everyone,

Just registered to the forums in hope of getting some more knowledge in my field and hopefully if I can possibly help others as well.

Currently I work as a developer for a medical firm, my job deals mostly with web development, most of the work is done in ASP.NET 2.0 with C# programming in the background, also a lot of DB work on MS SQL Server 2000 and also some Progress. My job is quite multi-task so I get the exposure of a lot of technologies but of course there's always room to learn new things.

Looking forward to posting :)

Hey Red19, welcome to CodeCall! I've hardly ever used ASP.NET. I made a script that read the username from a network domain and that is about the extent of it. Glad to an expert here!

The problem is, ASP.NET can only be used on Microsoft servers. PHP is usually a better choice, but I suppose ASP.NET has its benefits.

Saves on database space, though, eh?

You have an interesting job, and I bet it is pretty rewarding since it is for a medical firm.

Indeed it's very interesting, I have learned so much from this job since it's very multi-tasking in many different areas, so although I do ASP.NET C# programming with MS SQL Server 2000 and IIS most of the time, I do also deal with Computer Networking, Unix, Linux, Progress DB, and a bit of everything else such as my share of Java, Javascript, VB.NET, Flash, XML, and even a little of PHP with MySQL.

I would not say I'm an expert in all these areas, but I'm getting a major exposure in this company and that's helping me big time, the fact that before starting this job I had no confidance in my ability and now it's the total other way around, of course I would call myself lucky because the Senior Developer here has taught me a lot and my boss is very understanding and realistic with the deadlines, plus I was given the freedom to explore my own creativity in terms of problem solving when it comes to programming so that has allowed me to grow not only as a programmer, but as a problem solver as well.

Currently our company bought another company and we are taking their whole E-Commerce system so we can integrate it with our system, and in this project I'm getting the exposure of Oracle 7 and Perl scripts since that's what they're using, so a lot of DB work is being taken care of here, we are short handed so far but this project is teaching me a lot.
