Just registered here as I am trying to move past my current level of ability with Java. I'm taking a class at my high school, but I had to help the teacher learn some Java, so I'm a bit worried about whether or not I will be able to take away anything more than typing away from that class. I will most likely be a lurker like always, but I will try to help out if I can :)

I'm usually the one who creates/administrates forums for clans or alliances in games that I play so I want to learn some php and HTML as well. Also some BBCode would also be helpful I'm sure. I use free forums so I don't really have any experience beyond those, but thats another thing I want to move past.

Hey Aberius, welcome to CodeCall! Your teacher and the Java book may still be able to teach you some concepts that you didn't already know. You can only hope for the best in a situation like that.

Welcome to CodeCall.

I'd love to learn Java, but I was told it's quite slow and C# is way better. But I love the cross-platform ability...
