I've found that a pretty good way to promote your site is by commenting on blogs related to your website. It's best to choose blogs that don't use "NoFollow", so you also get SEO power from the links.

And you just post your link in the comment? Not a bad idea as long as you don't spam and actually post something relevant.

Blog owners don't seem to care if people post their link as long as the content of their post is not spammy.

No, the link will be posted in the URL field, fill the name field as the desired anchor text.. and in the comments just post a good comment that will make the blog owners accepting the comment.

This is very popular link building strategy. Why? Because after some while, you realize that pages that contains your comments have some very good PR, like 3 or even 4.

If you are thinking basing your link building strategy on blog commenting, than most important is to find blogs that are related to your niche. If you are in the gaming industry, try finding blogs that are posting about games and stuff.

Another thing you should consider. If you find blogs (hint: Wordpress blogs) that have top commentators sections, than, after commenting about 20 posts will get you on every page, with link to your site, and that is very effective strategy. You just have to make sure you stay there by commenting even more.

Cheers.

2stamlers, the TopCommentators add-on is very beneficial, I love sites with that. And if you comment on a blog enough, you might even get blogged about! I've been mentioned on a few blogs because of my extensive commenting, and it is nice ;)

Using a service may be cheaper and faster than you doing it manually. However, you need to find a good service.

There are many blog commenting services, but it's just as easy to do it yourself.
