In case they do, hi, I'm Aereshaa, or at least that's the pseudonym I use for most online things. I'm a C programmer, and I specialize in games, currently using the allegro graphics library. I was taught programming in perl at the age of 7 by my father, and since then I've displayed what my mother, a poet, calls an "unnatural affinity for all things technical, mathematic, and digital".

Unlike many people in the world today, I began using computers on Redhat Linux. I grew up with a system which never crashed, had malware & spyware protection built in. I grew up to expect these features. 2 years ago, I tried windows. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. 6 months ago, I used my last m$ product, and I hope to never use one again.

But I'm not just your average cyberpunk railing against m$. I have a unique perspective. I know a lot of people say about linux: "it's too hard, too complicated". The only reason these people are saying that is because they are used to using icons, windows, and menus. But I, because I grew up on linux, find it easier to simply type: "gnometris" than use the mouse to click <K>, <games>, <tetris>. I never had an IDE for my coding, not when I was 7. I used pico. Sometimes, for quick scripts, I used ed. ed!

So, in summary, if this is tl;dr, Hi all, I'm Aereshaa, I'm 14, I first coded in perl when I was 7, I use C now, I use linux because it's better.

How's that for an introduction?

Welcome to CodeCall Aereshaa! What flavor of Linux are you using? I'm currently hooked on Sabayon Linux but have tried most distributions. Why do you use pico instead of vi?

If it's any comfort, I grew up on DOS 3.3, when GUI wasn't an option and Linux didn't exist. I drop into command line on Windows on a regular basis. I like Linux for similar reasons to liking DOS: control and power of the command line.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

I use a heavily modified ubuntu workstation, with two quad-core AMD phenom processors, and 8 gigabytes of RAM. (I'm proud of my awesome machine.) I use pico because the commands aren't so arcane.

Hey, good to see a linux user. I truly love linux over this slow windows machine, but the sad fact is that major software development is simply not possible without windows because the majority of the target audience will run windows. Visual Studios is also a very powerful tool(probably the only thing Microsoft got right).
