Is it possible to set up Dual Monitors With Laptop and PC?

I connected the ports with each others but only my laptop is detecting the external display (ie, my computer) and if i point the mouse out of the screen it does vanish from my laptop display and it's like it's sent out, but on my pc nothing is displayed.

Why is that? Is that port only an output? So I can only connect a video-to-display not a videocard-to-videocard connection (So I can use my PC as an external display)

Thanks

if im understanding correctly (that you're connecting the vga out on your laptop to the graphics card in your computer) then what your doing will not work. the vga is an outup only and must be connected to a monitor or similar.

im not quite sure why youre trying to do it like this though. do you want to be able to use the same kb/mouse accross both the laptop and pc? If so then theres an app called synergy (id have to check) which allows you to do this.

@K3Y

Yes, I want to share the same pointer, and if possible transfer windows from laptop to pc (Which I doubt It can be done)

@Acheron
What's that?

yep, if ya wanna use the same pointer accross the two then synergy is what you want, Synergy

basicallly you install the app on both machines, set one up as client and one as server, then away you go!

Nothing more to add,check the manual on synergy on how it works,its simple as a snap.
I was talking about using more screens on the same pc as one (i think that synergy can do that too)

both your computers should be networked. so if theyre both connecting upto the internet through your router then they should be already.

So if I have a router and they are connected through the same router then they should work? Or I should ad-hoc them?

Sorry but I'm not so good in networking...

yep, if they are through the same router they will be networked/(able)

so the computer you choose to set up as server, you need to know its ip address (just right click on the two little computers of the network connection and go on status) then you put that into the client pc, then away you go (as long as theres no problems with firewalls)
