Hi everybody. I need help.
I am new here and just came from a game making forum - yep I used to be a Game Maker, and did pretty well at it too! But the language I was using, GML (Game Maker Language) Was for beginners, so as I became more advanced I could not reap the benefits of an advanced code.
So I came here from a google search "Programming Forum" and this appeared first on the list so I thought I'd check it out. The reason I was googling this was because I needed to ask a question... WHATS NEW? Seriously, what's the hottest, newest programming language out there? I was figuring it might be Ruby, but I'm not sure. Can you help me out? :)

Can somebody plzplzplzplzplz reply to me?

Welcome to the forum, computergeek2! What do you want to do/make with programming? I suggest C++ for gamming, C# for desktop applications (or VB, both are in high demand in the work force) and PHP for web development.

I want something where I can make it affect things such as adding music to an email or a USB port as I may add affects to a Webcam and such and such the list goes on and on lol. :) I am actually downloading Ruby right now... Is it a worthwhile language to learn? Would you recommend it? :D Thanks for the help Jordan and the warm welcome too XD have a nice day.

I'm not sure about Ruby as I haven't had the chance to learn/use it yet. I've only read good things about it and even read that it may replace Java one day. Maybe someone else could answer this question better for you.

Hello computergeek2, Welcome to CodeCall! I have yet to use ruby also, but every time I read something on it, it always results in positive feedback.

I don't like much of Ruby's syntax, especially not when you're declaring functions or classes, or using block-style comments. I'm not saying it's a bad language, and I couldn't say it either, as I don't have much experience with it, but the syntax simply doesn't appeal to me.
