Well it depends on whether you go to a public or private university. I currently attending a public university and pay about $5,000 a semester (2 semesters a year = $10,000). Thats for tuition, room-and-board, and food. Most private schools, I would say average between $20,00 and $30,000 a semester (including tuition, room-and-board, and food), some even reach $50,000.

Wow, that is quite expensive. But the ones you mentioning you actually live there don't you? Here public university and higher etc.. are free.. and government pays you. but then there are the private ones, obviously you pay for that.

Well you can live there or not live there. If you don't live there it will be a little less expensive - but not much. Where do you live?

Are you sure it doesn't cost anything to study where you live? Here, in Denmark, it cost for studying, but it's not much, and it's possible to get loans as well.

I suppose you're living in Malta?
It's the smallest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

Lol am I sure? I am currently making a National Diploma in Computing.. So I AM sure! We just pay the exams, nothing else, as long as we do not go to any private institutes, BUT I am going to a private institute and the government is paying the fees for me (I mean huge fees) because here in Malta we are going to have a SmartCity, and the government needs a lot of IT people, so the public schools are full, and therefore he is sending students to private institutes and paying the fees himself! So yeah, I am sure.. besides paying my fees he is paying me too (not much) but he is giving me a stipend, like $115 a month.

So in here, usually students get a loan for a car..lol

Yes but via loans. Loans are not free money like grants, subsidies, bursaries or whatever.

Right now I'm paying £1,300 a year on tuition fees and live at home. Costs me about £1,000 a year in transport.

In any case you always pay. Eventually via tax if nothing else. It's been shown in Britain that most students took a net loss from 'free' education. They paid back more in tax than they put in. Of course now we pay fees and our taxes are ever higher.

That is kinda expensive to study... Nah, here I just pay for transport, but thanks to the stipend it is still no expense to me. So I actually pay nothing, plus I still have extra money from the stipend, because i don't use it all for transport.. yeah my country is a very small one, but I'm quite cool with it :)
