As the title says, have you any recommendations ?
I seek free and opensource stuff at the moment.

For WYSIWYG: NVU

Console: Use vim which has syntax highlighting or xemacs or emacs. There is also Blulefish but I have never used it.

kate would probably work well, too. It's a good general code editor.

I am using SCITE. For me it is the best editor for linux (for windows maybe too, but I am using notepad++ for win) :)

You can also use Eclipse! but I am using emacs.
