My computer wasn't working yesterday, it kept saying, "Disk Read Error" and there was nothing I could do to make it work. It started working a few hours later, but can anyone explain why the problem started, and why it fixed itself? I'm just curious.

That is syptomatic of a bad sector on the hard drive. The data could have been finally reallocated to a good sector. You can run chkdsk to see a summary of bad sectors.

If you do have a bad sector on your HD then this problem will continue to plague you. You should consider buying a new hard drive.
