I drive a 2003 Black Dodge Stratus RT:

I really like the car. It is good on Gas (~30mpg) and drives extremely smooth. I use it to drive to work and back.

Maruti Alto is a good fuel efficient car. Fuel consumption directly depends upon the car maintenance, driver and driving habits. From a five years old Alto Vxi (1100 cc) I take over 17 kms without AC and around 15 kms with AC on city roads.

Not the fastest, nor the prettiest you can get for that much money but it still rides smoothe.
1800cc 180bhp with compressor when it starts to work it sucks up gas.

I've got a 2001 Ford Escort ZX2. It gets about 29 MPG. Overall, it's a decent car (gets me to work and back every day).
