How to do with linux.?

Hi all
I have read about several applications that would do this, but I guess I need to learn more. One application is rose garden, that closely resembles Sonar 3, which I now use. Could anyone steer me in the right direction?I have used windows xp to record audio for several years, and would like to learn how to utilize linux to record.what do you say?
