As mentioned in the title, I'm in a fairly sticky situation when it comes to sending e-mail. I'm blacklisted nigh everywhere! It's no fun.
So anyway, I'd like to be able to send e-mails (to myself and perhaps in the future, others) using PHP. Since I prefer to use my Gmail account for daily e-mail use anyway, up until now this "spoofing spammer" issue hasn't presented itself at any great length.
But now my problem is that most spam filters detect (and in many cases, delete) all my messages and even changing the "From: " header using PHP fails to help the situation.
Are there more headers or something I can alter in order for the spam filters not to "catch on"; or am I eternally screwed over by this spammer and my frivolous treatment of my e-mail address when I was younger?
Spammers use my e-mail address

A spammer is using your email address in the From portion or are they actually using your server as an SMTP host and getting through valid(ly)?
Here is an article on how to spoof email though: How To Spoof Email - Antionline Forums - Maximum Security for a Connected World

Thanks for your idea and quick response; much appreciated.
But I don't think it's what I'm in need of. The problem is that spammers either "spoof" my address (though whether using your telnet method or some other way I will never know) to send messages which appear to have been sent from *@my.domain. They do not have access to my account or server, they just send these e-mails under false pretences, perhaps using PHP too! The issue with this is not that I have suffered a security threat; it's that with my address being shown in the "From:" or likewise headers of so many spam e-mails has put me on the internet naughty chair.
What I'd really love is the ability to send e-mails via PHP without these messages being mistaken by spam filters as spam messages. This may well be impossible by now, but never say never.

I see a lot of spammers using @codecall.net in their from headers but I am not blocked (as far as I know). I'd really like a way to prevent this but I don't believe it is possible (is it?). I'm not sure you can beat the spam filters now that you are black listed though.

Thanks for the input, you guys are great. I guess it's a widespread problem that cannot be helped as of yet.

I often get returned mails to my account that I did not send and when I look at the details it appears to be a spam mail. Other than reading the headers and sending it to the ISP that the email "actually" originated from there is nothing you can really do. Often the ISP does nothing and you never hear a response from them although they are suppose to ban/block the user.
Any ideas?
