I understand this is probably an annoyingly common sort of proposition, and I can only hope that my concept is strong enough to give it some kind of merit.
So, that said, the following images I put together show how I imagine the actual interface, and should be helpful as a reference to what I describe.

Basic Concept
The idea is this. The player is simple, easy and quick to use. I want an audio player that doesn't get caught up in things that aren't necessary and doesn't suffer from over-integration. An audio player and only and audio player.
Something that I have yet to see in an audio player, and what I would like to see in this player is an intuitive music library system. I want to be able to define watched folders and add specific files. Any file played outside of that defined library will display a simple tab (Shown next to track 13 in the first concept image) which you can click to add the track to your library, completely unobtrusive, but easy make use of.
I want it to have two basic modes (as shown in the concept art) the first mode would be used for building a playlist. It would consist of a library, small album art, a playlist and audio controls.
From there you can switch to an art mode which consists only of High Resolution art (500px) the playlist and audio controls.
Features
The following are features I would like to see implemented, if not initially, perhaps eventually through open-source availability.
- Support for many codecs (Including FLAC and DTS)
- Very responsive library database (possibly using Vista's Index)
- Internally stored playlists (with the option to import/export)
- Album art resizing engine
- Gapless playback
- Playback device selection, ASIO output
- Conversion of 2ch. to 2.1
- Full id3v4 support
- Minimal task bar player
In Summary
I understand many people are satisfied with their current audio software. I am just hoping there is a programmer out there who understands what my concept is driving towards. I believe my concept is less complicated than most players, and realizes what many people with digital music collections want; a player that takes advantage of their tagged music without over-implementation.
