I decided to install vista home premium (32bit) on my main rig yesterday and had no problems at

all. The only thing I was a little concerned with was the amount of RAM it was using. After

installing it, it was using 30% of my RAM, and sense then it has gradually risen to 41%. I'm

basically just wondering if this is normal or if it has anything to do with being booted up for

long periods of time maybe. Any ideas?

I saw similar results on my Vista Machine. I'm came to the conclusion that it is just from leaving it on for extended amounts of time.

I think, people with Ram under 1GB to don't use Windows Vista, beacuse it will cause many freezes, bugs..

Yup, agreed. A minimum should be 1Gb, I talked with some people that had a laptop with 1Gb, and it still crazed up.

Yes, but gamers, mustn't install Windows Vista under 2GB of Ram, cos' they don't gain nothing, games run slove.

It happens to me aswell, my laptop came with Vista Home Premium or Basic (can't remember) and it took up like 800mb of RAM when I only had 1GB, I couldn't do anything (I had all these pre-installed applications, only had a few running).

Take Mac OS X for instance, it doesn't take up a lot of RAM and the laptops have a minimum of 512MB RAM and it all works flawlessly and in my opinion Mac OS X is a whole lot better than Windows (I'd only use Windows for gaming). The new Leopard OS looks amazing too, 32bit and 64bit together!

So yeah, if your getting Vista I'd recommend atleast 2gb if you don't want to run into any problems such as constant freezing, crashes and if your a gamer. Since my desktop computer has Vista installed with 1gb and it keeps crashing and freezing.

My Mac OS X takes 1.68gb in Virtual memory, however it uses very little real memory. I have 4gb in that machine and it runs perfect! Microsoft really bombed when building the Vista Kernel and must have some kind of memory leak. I imagine it will be fixed with the first service pack - at least I hope.

Yeah, I might actually consider re-installing it when they fix some of the annoying stuff. Like, I couldn't even run Photoshop CS2 due to not anough RAM! :p

Right the RAM problem in Vista must fix!
Did you run World of Warcraft, Windows Media Player, and burn a file with the Nero at same time? :D
