Dear Friends,
I would like to do the licensing of self made software in .Net. Currently I am using Processor ID and MAC address for this purpose. can any one explore more on this and kindly suggest some more techniques how other well known software vendors are using.
Also how reliable is to use MAC and Processor ID for licensing.
Thanks a Lot..
Ankur.

I personally dislike it when software vendors use hardware IDs for registration. I often get new computers or switch computers and need that software re-installed. That means I have to go to the vendor and get new keys. That is for a per-user license. Is your license per computer?
In the past I've used several techniques but the best was validation online everytime the software was ran. If someone gave out a key then I could disable it and display a message to the user stating the key was used for warez.
In the end though, your software will be cracked so I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about this. The people who enjoy and use your software will buy it. The crackers will either crack it or find other software to suite their case and would probably never purchase your software anyway.
