Other than building a computer yourself, what brand do you recommend? This is for a family member and I don't really want to build the computer because then I will have to support all of his problems. What brand do you recommend, dell? Gateway? etc.....

I usually build my own computers, so I don't know much about the brands there's on the market. But what about and Apple iMac? They look cool, and have some pretty good specifications.

Except for that I've heard good stuff about Dell.

I never purchased one until work started purchasing computers for me. We use Dell here and they are good as long as you purchase the business class (optiplex) and stay away from the consumer class (dimension).

We have two Dells. They work really good, the only downside to Dell is that their stuff, like printer cartridges and stuff, you can only get from a Dell store.

Is it true that DELL computers have a complicated or whatever BIOS?

I think that the Dell computer has a more user friendly BIOS and a lot more functionality.

Personally I don't like Dell's BIOS, but I don't think the person who NeedHelp is buying for is going to be messing with the BIOS so it shouldn't matter.

I have never even met a BIOS who was complicated. I think all BIOS' are easy to use. Usually you're just using the arrows, enter and maybe space. Some peoples have problems accessing the BIOS though.

Well if I had the occasion I would go for a custom built, and I think that next PC will be built with my own hands :)
