I want to treat myself to a gaming mouse. Was considering the Logitech MX518. Any comments or recommendations?

I treated myself to the Logitech MX900 about two years ago. It's a rechargeable wireless mouse with a lot of buttons. My only issue with the mouse is that it doesn't fit into the charging dock very well, and it is a whore on battery life. So I was either forced to buy new batteries every week or buy a battery charger, which isn't what I would expect from a $90 mouse...

I like stuff with lots of buttons, which is why I so adored the N64 when it first came out.

Logitech G5 is a very nice mouse, not only for gaming, but for everything else too. You can scroll both horizontal and vertically (handy on the internet), change speed of the mouse (good in games, when f.ex. from a riffle to a sniper), and there's also a "back"-button (also handy on the internet). A really nice feature IMO is that you can change the weight of the mouse, with some small things.

I love my Microsoft Trackball, but they don't make it anymore. The Logitech TrackMan Wheel is pretty nice as a substitute, but not quite as good.

Trackball mice are awkward, I could never get used to them.

Yeah, track ball mouses are quite strange.. the feeling, shape and everything. Well I don't have any special mouses, just a normal one (with a buggy pointer sometimes) So I can't recommend you any specialties!

For me, I get far more precision from a Trackball... the aim doesn't jump if you click too hard :)

Click too hard? What aim jumps? Clicking slowly or hard won't make any difference to the mouse pointer.. or am I misunderstanding something?

when I click, I sometimes push the mouse up/down at the same time.

Ok, now I got it. when trying to click you even move your hand up or down.. meaning that you will miss where you actually wanted to click.

If that happens all the time, that would get pretty annoying and frustrating.
