I receive a Logwatch every morning and was looking through this mornings. I seem to have a lot of people trying to get into my server as root. How should I handle this?

I know it is not a joke, try searching for "Server security enhancement" I do not know much about server management though. Good luck mate.

It is possible that maybe those guys are trying to snoop into your server.

Hackers, aye? Is Logwatch a notification of a failed login attempt or something? I'm unfamiliar with the term.
