Excuse me for my poor English.
What do you think about to begin use of 64-bit Windows and support users with 64-bit systems? Systems on 64-bit processors base exist already many years. But with 64-bit software under Windows x64, in my opinion, things look bad. I draw conclusion on the basis of the following facts:
1) Borland is planned release of the 64-bit compiler C++ at the end of 2007. Consequently, we will see 64-bit programs created by C++ from Borland not earlier than in a year, but that is more.
2) Aladdin is not release envelop protection for the 64-bit applications. Unknown when it will be. It only makes it possible to start the protected 32-bit applications on the 64-bit systems. Consequently, all programs protected HASP there will be thus far only 32-bit. (HASP HL Hardware Key with 128-bit AES Encryption)
3) Only at the end of the past year appeared the site, where they propose utility Viva64 for detect 64-bit migration issues in C++ program. It means, programmers only enter into the process of migration. (Viva64 C++ analizer)
4) Adobe assures, that the 64-bit Photoshop version is necessary no one. (http://blogs.adobe.c..._.bitswhen.html)
Now questions. Am I pessimist developer? Or in reality is everything considerably better? Is it possible to soon expect a considerable increase in the number of 64-bit programs?
