As far as I know AMD processors are better for Graphics and Games sort of things (Specially should be under Air conditioned environment as it dissipates a huge amount of heat) and intel in good for programming and like that.

Well, for me,
I can say this in this way.
If you use 2 computers one with Athalon and the other with Pentium,
You can see the difference that AMD is faster than Pentium.

But I can't say anything about Core 2 as I 've never used it,.

I am having problems with the one with AMD processor with certain videos.. The older version works fine..My new computer has windows xp professional the older one windows xp home edition..

That doesn't mean that the problem with the processor than the Operating System. There's no issue involves with the processor for not to play Video Files. Try to Troubleshoot your os.
