If all Americans who take public transportation to work decided to drive instead, their cars would circle the earth with a line of traffic 23,000 miles long.

Ten million Americans use public transit each working day.

Americans loose more than 1.6 million hours a day stuck in traffic.

Freight can be transported by: air; rail; highways; water; and pipeline -- this is another form of intermodal transportation.

The average American driver spends about one hour in a car each day, including weekends.

There are more than 160,000 traffic signals in the U.S.

The cost of sitting in traffic congestion costs travelers and businesses $40 billion each year :rolleyes:

Blow, It's good that I am not in US as in Sri lanka there's fewer traffic and fewer problems too. But using public transport is the solution for this.

Here in our country fall into Huge Traffic Jam due to Public Transport Services, mainly the buses. They stop the bus as they wish, there's no sticked restriction here compared to western countries. So I completely disagree with XTRaze reply, according to our country situation. (I am a Sri Lankan too)

I would imagine many countries have traffic problems..Depending on where you are in the USA some places actually have very little traffic;)

I am not too impatient when in the car..guess when I get in the car..It's because I want to get out..and am in no hurry to get home;)

I don't travel much on the railway transportation..It isn't really as popular here in the usa as it is in Europe or other countries..flying is very popular and buses ... Certain cities like NYC are noteable for subways and chicago..
