Hotel, your room door is inside the building.
Motel, your room door is outside in the frickin cold.

LOL..Now that's one way to look at it.. But with the motel you usually can drive up to the door and in the hotel you usually have to walk a bit;)

Only now I knew the difference. But now I can remember some examples too. Some Motels look better than Hotels. But I don't use any of these. I'm not a BIG Traveler.

There really is none. The term “motel” is derived from the term "motor hotel," which originally meant that the hotel provided parking. The term motel today generally is used for a "limited service" property.

The word hotel is used for accommodations in many price classes and any different locations.
Motels are found near motorways, and basically designed for people traveling by car. They do also come in many different price classes, but not the most expensive.

A hotel is a classier place. A motel is a family friendly place to relax and not be uptight. And an Inn is nice, relaxing place where you can kick your shoes off and most times breakfast is served and they treat you like family and let you feel like your at home.
