I have been wanting to get a new computer..OF course my first course of action is to head to ebay. My question is this: Is Linux just as good as windows? I see many computers on ebay going for less price and claiming to have Linux. What is your opinion on this matter?

Well you could always buy a Linux PC and install windows on it :)
I like Linux but you need to know some commands etc, not so simple as windows but its much, much more stable!

I user Linux here at home and Windows at work. If you don't already know Linux and have a good understanding you will be hard pressed to do anything. I suggested sticking at what you know (Windows) and maybe doing what Tcm9669 suggested.

I really like Linux but I had to use Windows as my dad has some work with MS Office and things. Openoffice is no good for him, therefor I had to use WIndows XP.

Linux? Windows?, Windows hit the marketing and user friendly since it has lots of bugs and poor security issues as drawbacks.

Linux, if you not familiar with the Operating System then go for MS product. only good for experts like me. LOL.....

They have the market and nowadys, in my country. Some organizations are transferring to Opensource software. And new companies use Linux as its cheaper.

We can use Open source software as easily as These but Windows is the most user friendly OS and it stands-out.

Windows is BEST but the cost is higher.

As you say its ONLY user friendly, security wise there are so many issues when we compared to the other OS.
