Voice Over IP is a great technology for home and business, since it eliminates the need for a separate phone system and allows you to talk using your Internet connection. I'm not sure how expensive it is for home, but in the long run, I'm pretty sure it's cheaper if implemented in businesses.

Around here it is about $24 a month with unlimited calling to anywhere int he US/Canada. The bad side is that you will not have a phone if your power goes out or your internet connection goes down. I've also heard from several people if you have a lower rated connection that you can hear lag (and see it in games and such) if you are talking on the phone. Another down-side is the 911 dialing. I don't know the specifics but I've just heard people complaining about it?

I do believe it is great for business at its current stage though.

Netzero gives you a free microphone/earphone setup when you sign up with them. They provide the first month free. Then offer you $30 per referral. Might want to look into partnering with their voip offer;)

I think Net2Phone is the pioneers of this innovation. Thats what we heard for the first time as a VoIP system in our country. Now there are so many..

I agree with you AfTrix, Net2phone was one of the first. I remember when it came out. We were all wondering what it meant to call through the computer. Now everyone does!:)
