I'm new to programming, and I am simply trying to do a hello world program using notepad, then the command prompt. I put the code into notepad, saved it as a vb file, then vbc filename, but when I do this I get this message: 'vbc is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. What is wrong?

Welcome, hopefully someone around here will be able to give you some help. Make sure you stay around and play in the contests. You still have time to win!

Hello, welcome to CodeCall. You do not have vbc in your path. If you drop to a Visual Basic shell it will automatically be in your path. Otherwise, you need to execute like this:

C:\path\to\vbc.exe program.vb
