Found an interesting article about kids not being able to program. Here is part of it:

Quote

BASIC used to be on every computer a child touched -- but today there's no easy way for kids to get hooked on programming. Quietly and without fanfare, or even any comment or notice by software pundits, we have drifted into a situation where almost none of the millions of personal computers in America offers a line-programming language simple enough for kids to pick up fast.

Well I don't agree! If someone is interested in programming I would go on the net and download a software for programming!

Well I started programming since I was like 8 coz I had one of those small COmputers that has games and are very basic ( these are basicaly toys ) but mine had BASIC in it and I used to read the manual and program for hours! Then when a real PC came I started real programming like 5 years ago came the PC and 4 years ago started the programming!

So I think this depends on the person! coz I always had that thing in me that wanted me to program!!

Ow yeah and im only 16! (nearly)

I started programming in basic around the age of 8 or 9. We had DOS on an old 286 computer with 40 megs of HD space, 2 megs of ram and I think a 12mhz processor! It was a good computer at the time!

I use to make "The Adventures of Ug" which was a text based came where you selected what you wanted Ug to do. It was fun.

Microsoft has a programming language for kids for free: KPL. People just don't know about it.

Never heard of it. When I was young I bought a book about Libery BASIC. It got me interested in programming but you couldn't do jack-poop with that language.

I agree 99.999999%. I happened to stumble my way into programming, I was the .0000001% in my area.

Can't say I programmed when I was a kid - didn't really care about computers that much.

Can kids even program?
