Over the past few weeks, I've been editing the "External Links" of Wikipedia entries and putty my URL in. It was great: Free high PR links (PR6, 7, and I got a PR8!). I didn't have any problems, and I was only doing 1 every couple of days, and only in relevent articles. Then one day this guy just DELETES them all! ALL OF THEM! They were relevent, and I needed them! I was doing great, then I lost it all. Now I need to find a way to get them back... I must get them back.

What was the reason they were deleted if they were relevant?

Yes, they were all very relevent and helpful. I hadn't been putting in like 10 a day, I only put in one every few days. That guy shouldn't have deleted them all, they were relevent! We should have talked it out. I'm working on getting them all back, but it will be hard.

I had just added four of them back, well, I had other people do it, and they all got deleted! This isn't fair... I'm going to have to wait a long time before I can even think of getting some back.

Can you tell me on what day they were removed? And the name of at least one page it was on would help.

One of the issues with wikipedia is it is a community effort. If you get into a pissing match, you are likely to lose. Unfortunately, there are some things that I might think are incredibly useful that I could add to wikipedia, but if many people disagree I'm just about guaranteed to have them removed. Also, if someone thinks you're just using wikipedia as free advertising for your site, it wouldn't surprise me if they not only get removed, but you also lose editing privileges.

I would find out WHY they were removed before I try putting them back.

that is very odd, since your site is about humor and it got deleted off the humor page. hmm maybe its not "good" enough for them.

I was actually using it for SEO purposes, not advertising, but same concept. However, I was only putting my link on relevent pages, and my links were actually helpful! Don't worry about it TkTeck, I got it covered.

Wow, that didn't last long. You knew that there was a risk of that before you started. You have to make sure your links are not only relevant, helpful but the most relevant and helpful you could have picked. It helps too if the category is buried, forgotten and out of the spotlight, I guess. Do those pages exist in the wiki?

Take the Olympics. I'm sure there are many fine websites out there talking about the history, the events, the people etc. I would imagine that there would be an expectation that the links will be to the so call "authority" sites and "official" sites.

Are you the sarahk from DigitalPoint? When I first started doing the Wikipedia thing, I PMed you on DigitalPoint and asked you about it. What a coincidence you wind up here and encounter something on the same topic! Well, I've been trying to get my links back on, but it's not working. It's not working!

Yeah they will delete nearly all links.. you'd be lucky to get your link kept there.
You really need to do it in a way that it doesnt look like spam.. i havent worked out how yet though.
Does anyone know how to get a link in the Wikipedia resource box thing at the end of each article?
