StumbleUpon is the one advertising medium that I trust. Basically, people click a button, and they go to a random site that fits a category that they choose. Your site can come up randomly, but you can also pay to make sure your site gets seen. With the ad program, you pay 5 cents per visitor, and because they are targeted, they are actually worth the money. I paid $2 for 40 visitors (I actually ended up getting 43 somehow), and I already got an email from someone asking me about my site. I just think it works great, and I just paid $3 for 60 visitors! Most advertisers spend hundreds of dollars on it, but I think small.

I'm just starting to use StumbleUpon. I think it was a great idea, I wish I had thought of it (but even if I had I couldn't have made it).

I have tried StumbleUpon for free traffic, but didn't realize you could also pay for traffic. This could potentially be better than Adwords for one of my sites. I guess the traffic with Adwords would be someone more targeted, but the CPC there would allow me to get ~8 visitors with StumbleUpon. I will look into this. Thanks for the information.

I was using StumbleUpon but I'm not going to use it anymore. I'm getting very low ROI, in more ways than one, so I'm just not going to do it again for awhile.

Yes, stumbleupon gives very low ROI. Most of the visitors from it only give me 1 pageview and no downloads.

Thats because they look at the site for 1 second then leave, they are just browsing.
I dont really see it as an effective long term advertising technique.

It's not good unless you have a really compelling, grabbing website. If it's boring and has a bad design, they'll just go right off.
