I want to buy some .info domains as they are only $2 at domainsite.com for the first year.
But is this extension a waste of time? Could i still achieve good SE rankings and traffic with .info?

$2 isn't expensive at all. I've seen some very popular websites with the .INFO extension. I do not see any reason that a .INFO wouldn't get popular with Search Engines as long as you had links back to your site and have it SEO.

I don't think they are as good as .com but they arn't bad either. Those top three will be the best for a long time only because everyone knows them.

I always prefer .com but often I cant get it so go .net
After that .info would be my best one.

Its $2 for first year but remember second + years will be charged at the full rate.

I always go .com (usually taken) then .net. .info would be third choice though but it wouldn't keep me from visiting a nice site.

.info is good for experimenting. Eg you might have a topic that you're not sure will be succesful, so try it on a .info for a year, if it works then get a .com and redirect to that, if it doesnt work then you've only lost $2 :)

It doesn't matter what the extention is, every single domain has the same chances with SEs. The reason .coms are so good is because people buy them more and they've been around longer.

yeah i guess so. but sometimes it takes more than a year for the site to do well, maybe i can still get an idea.

i have registered several .info domains since making this thread anyway so i will see how it goes ;)

Hmm I have seen a few in my time, but cant think of one off the top of my head.
.info certainly isn't as memorable as .com

Unless you're using a separate host, then you could lose over $10. Why not use a subdomain to test a site? That'd be better.
