Are blogs or static websites better for seo purposes?
I have heard mixed things about both so looking for all your opinions!

I would say static websites because I've heard that google is going to be harsher on blog links in their next search engine update. I'm not sure how true this is though.

I have heard of a lot of people being very successfull from blogs though so this could just be a load of crap.

Blog has a very ideal link structure and it's very good for SEO. If you're planning to create a site, then it's probably a good idea to see if you can use blog to create a basic structure. Another thing is that blog allows you to keep adding content consistently; search engines apparently really like this.

As long as you keep updating content, you will eventually be rewarded. You still need backlinks though, that's as important.

Flash sites are horrible for SEO, because Google can't see any of it. However, I've seen all flash sites rank really high for certain terms, and that's probably due to backlinks.

That's true. While search engines can't index flash sites as well as static webpages, flash sites are great link baiters, and it's the links alone that push the flash sites up in the SEs.

I think the WordPress templates look fine, although it would be nice to have something completely unique. I don't use a template, but sometimes I think maybe I should've.

Do you think blogs attract more results in the search engines?
I find when i search for something, i rarely get blog results.
Also are blogs harder for people to read than a normal website?

I don't know how people make so much from blogs when, you're right, they rarely come up in search engines. That's because blogs not often receive a lot of links, and when people make blogs, they aren't thinking of SEO.
