How do you choose a password? Where I work you have to have two uppercase characters and one number or any of this number shifts (!@#$^&*()). The password must be changed every 30 days.

I use this method at home and for my webservers. What method do you guys use at home and at work?

I have a list of about 3-4 bases for passwords that I use. Then I just cycle through the list. I would also point out to whoever's in charge of IT that studies have shown that if employees are changing passwords too often they tend to start writing them on sticky notes on their monitors, which defeats the purpose. 30 days is too often.

30 days is to low IMO. We have to change ours every 90 and we need letters and numbers or the ****-numbers.

I used a universal password for a long time, I used it on everything. Then I gave somebody an account I had somewhere (out of the goodness of my heart) and that ungrateful ******* used my password on my other stuff, and hacked a forum account I had, my AIM, my gmail, my PayPal account, and I know there was something else but I can't remember. Long story short, me and my friend faked an email from the FBI saying what he did was illegal, and he said he was sorry and gave it all back. Now we're friends.
