As per title, how many directories do you submit your sites to and how long does it take?

Which directories do you submit to?

It takes me a couple of hours, usually 2-3. I submit to every directory I can! I always do a search on google for directory lists to find the newest lists.

Wow thats pretty quick Lop!

I find it a seriously boring task, usually takes a lot longer than 10 hours due to the registration etc. etc.

Very nice link Dan.

It usually takes me about 5 hours. I use roboform though so once I get to a submission page I click one button and everything is filled out for me. I hit submit and I'm done!

for (int i;;) {

   cout << "Smith";

}

This roboform sounds very interesting! I'm also looking for ways to speed up stuff like this, and this sounds like it could be it.

Does it work well though, i.e. do you find there are many errors?

roboform is a nice tool. It is very easy to use as well.

http://www.roboform.com/

Give it a try! I've never gotten an error from it. You create identities and it places a button on your browser. Press the button anytime and it fills out the form for you. Just click submit!

It has custom field so you just put in the name and what you want to enter. For instance, in this quick reply box if I wanted to auto-fill it I would put "Message" as the name and whatever text I want. Works like a charm!

for (int i;;) {

   cout << "Smith";

}

I pay people to do directory submissions, I'm not going to spend hours do it! I'd rather spend my time doing other important things.

When i was firstly building website, i spend a lot of time on directory submition and it did bring some traffic to my website from those directory i submited. Since i was ventured into online wholesale, even minor quality traffic would bring sales to me.

Now i'm just submitting to any new directory when i was posting in webmaster/general website. :)

I also pay people to submit for to directories for me, although in the beginning I submitted to a lot myself. But eventually I just got tired of it.

I'm happy I'm not the only one who pays people to do it. I knew I wasn't the only person, I know plenty of people who do it.

There's no shame in paying people to submit to directories. It's tedious work, and if you have the money, it's a perfectly reasonable expense to put some towards directory submissions, which is essentially link building.
