I think that a site looks the best when it has clean graphics and is easy to navigate. What do you think makes websites look the best?

Good, nice looking graphics always help. I hate seeing people in logos - I think a solid layout makes a site best

Logically thought out navigation, clean graphics, and an easy on the eyes, light colour scheme!

I like dark schemes cause they're different, Plus white hurts my eyes after a while.

This is a matter of preference actually. However, there is a "guideline" to determine whether or not your design is good.

1 - Easy on the eyes, so everyone can easily read the information posted on it.
2 - You have to like it! Of course, if you don't, then your creation will look horrible.
3 - Color combination, your website needs a good color scheme, all colors should match and give a message to the audience (yes colors do have messages)
4 - Fast loading. An extremely slow website will just turn your traffic away, no one would like to browse a site that is slow as hell.

There are so many other factors that I just can't think of right now, the list is endless.

Since everyone is saying what makes it good, I'll say what doesn't look good.

-Very cluttered
-Using bright colors like yellow
-Too many ads

That's just a few examples of page-ruiners.

Yuck, I hate flash websites. They are slow to load and annoyingly flashy. (no, that wasn't a pun)

Accessibility is key.

I'm with you, Xav. I have no use for Flash outside of Flash games/streaming video.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

I suppose it looks nice, but.. I usually look for content in a site primarily.

Well.. simple graphics (or very professional crazy graphics) and NOT just solid colors.. I really don't like only colors.. and moving gif images are stupid also.. like this:
