I came across an interesting article this morning. I'm not sure how many people here have heard of FFAs but they were very popular before google.com starting giving penalties for being listed on one.
Here is why I don't use FFAs or Free For Alls:
1) Google gives penalties
2) The contents will change before SEs even crawl the page (your link may not even be on it)
3) They do not generate traffic. The only people that visit FFAs are the submitters.
Anyone else have anything to add?

FFAs sound an awful lot like directories, as in they have categories and anyone can submit a link.

WRONG. You are not penalized for submitting to Free-For-Alls, and here's why. Actually, think of it this way. If you were penalized for submitting to, say, 10 FFAs, and you got penalized, then someone could submit their competitor's sites to the FFAs so they would get penalized. See what I'm getting at? You don't get penalized, but there's no benefit either.

So FFAs are just a waste of time, aye? I've never submitted to any, and I never will. As this thread proves, they're ineffective.
