Microsoft is making a pitch for the jpeg picture market with a rival Windows Media Photo format which will be supported in Windows Vista and made available for XP users.
impressing 24:1 compress says MS.Is that the monopolistic activity or the end of the world?:D

I've heard of it. Figures. MS gets into anything and everything. I think they want to control the world.

A direct competitor to JPEG for in-device image storage, the new format promises much smaller file sizes than JPEG with image quality similar to JPEG 2000.

Wow, I didn't know that the format of images was such big news! The JPEG format is nice, but it seems to cut down on the image quality of stuff that I'm doing. Maybe I should go back to GIF.
