Anyone ever make money from Mobile Device software, mainly Windows CE (or mobile or whatever it is called)? I'm thinking about making some simple applications because they are quick and easy. It'd be a starter for my software business but I looked around and not to many downloads plus the prices aren't very high........ Anyone?

In my opinion I wouldn't go for it, currently it's a "risky" business and most larger companies totaly own it so no way to get inbetween that.

I have a friend and that is all he makes. He has made around 15 different titles and sells them. He does not have a job other than making that software.

I would love to be able to do that. That is my aim oneday, to live solely off software.

How does he deal with piracy though? I see that becoming a bigger and bigger factor, causing programmers to lose potentially thousands of dollars every year.

That would be a nice life! He probably deals with piracy the same way we all do - try to trick them and stay ahead of them. I've never had a software release that wasn't pirated eventually.

I wish you could just kick out pirates!
Unfortunately its not that simple. You need to come up with licencing techniques to avoid piracy. Eg validating keys on your server and making each key a one use only key.

Piracy is hard to beat, I think impossible... What software can't be cracked? or registration info leaked?

How come all registration keys aren't one-time use keys? I've heard of one key being used hundreds of times; that seems like an easy problem to stop.
