Anyone here purchase faster submissions for their software from download.com? I always submit mine *free*. It takes them about 1-2 months before the product is added but I just saved $200. Why would you want to pay to submit if faster?

To beat competition, you might also see it as an investment $200 for 1-2 months of your product being published, doesn't seem like bad deal if you have the money for it.
There probably more reasons why you should do it if you have the money.

True. You could also earn back the $200 in 1-2 months depending on how well your download to buy ratio is.

But you can also buy through download.com, it's not just for free stuff. I used to use download.com a lot, but I haven't been there in a long time.

I think lop was talking about the submission process Devil. Download.com use to be free to submit and then they went to paid and now they are paid/free. The free submission takes a month or more to get your software listed. A lot of large download sites are doing this now. Very similar to what yahoo did with their directory submission.

Yeah I was about to say this situation reminded me of Yahoo! Because I was just trying to submit my site to Yahoo (I ended up not doing it because I had to make a stupid account), and the paid submission was $299, and it doesn't even guarentee your site will get accepted! Rip-off.

Yahoo is a rip-off, and I think charging $200 for download.com is one too. This is one of those times where time seems to literally convert into money.
