Since Jordan told us to solve this in PMs, I stopped posting such posts.. but Xav seems like he is not understanding the problems here!
You see... me and TkTech were having a decent on-topic discussion ... until someone popped in and started acting childish.

Super fast internet ... I am spellbound to use opera turbo faster browsing coz THE SPEED I GET IN MY COLLEGE IS NOT MORE THAT 140 KBPS AND SAME IS THE STORY WITH MOBILE CONNECTION ... ACTUALLY THE INTERNET CONNECTION IN INDIA SUCKS
I live in the center of a really big city. My download speed is over 6500kb/s. Speed mostly depends how urban your environment.
In fact, Japan is the leading of "light speed internet". If you have ever been in Japan, you will know what I mean. Their speed is like 30000000 years ahead of what USA offers. By the way, Hong Kong is also offering great speed at this point. Generally speaking, the board band connection in USA isn't bad at all. But the speed is so different from state to state, city to city. So it's hard to say USA is not catching the speed. If you have been in country like Malaysia, you will be happy that USA is 3000000 years ahead of it. My friends from Malaysia always complain the expensive service they get: their speed is like a 56k connection back in 10 years ago.
Verzion Fios is super fast at this point. It has been around the market for more than 3 years as I recalled..... I might switch to it next year when my Time Warner Cable service terminates.

Another thing is quite truth is the user problem. For me I live in a house (2 floors and basement). We have 10 computers in total (no kidding) and all share 1 boardban connection (cable). I route the main cable to Linksys Wireless Router, then 2 more cables to the router. From router one of the cable will plug into a hub / switch (i forgot which one) and then that hub / swtich will route another 3 cables. One cable will go to 2nd floor and connect to my swtich and a few more cables to there. Now my father just brought another switch and he takes two more lines from my switch to his switch then to his 2 computers.
You see. This is crazy. And plus in NYC with so many people using the access.... speed reduces a lot.... if I am the only one using the connection in my whole building, well, I guess I don't have to worry about my night connection.
I hate when it comes to "fixing" and "updating" the entire route. For all these years... omg... I am tired of setting up these "route".

could you explain a bit more about why transmission wouldnt be needed? im interested in what ya mean.
its amazing to think that 0's and 1'scould be transmitted so quickly in theory but the speed of such a transmission would greatly depend on how much power would be needed to change the state of these particals and how long the change in state took to take place.
a single partical might be instant however if this change in state only represents a single 0 or 1 then wouldnt the transfer speed need more analysis?
to tktech:
what types of changes are these particles going through?
sidenote: heres a fun tip ive learned in the past about dealing with "nit-pickers". simply put, tell the truth. like this.
irrelevant.
then just continue your ontopic posting.
I can't wait until everyone gets this new incredibly fast internet, so we can all start complaining about how slow it is. It seems so inevitable. Once it becomes available in any decent percentage of homes, streaming media is officially going to hit the fans. Netflix will begin offering their entire collection online. An iTunes like provider for movies, pap-per-view events, etc will begin to pop up; HD computer monitors will get as big as tv monitors. Technology can be such a downward spiral sometimes.
My download rate never gets above 2mbps...but I am stealing Wifi from across the street. Can I really complain? No.
