Is playing Blue Ray movies with my PS3 going to look the same?

I am planning to buy a Sony 1080i LCD flat screen and a Blue Ray player. I see many Y!A that indicate I might be better off to buy a PS3 since it will play Blue Ray movies too.

I really like PS games and this would save me about $400. Will the game machine play at the same quality as the player itself?

Well according to most reviews, the PS3 is stil lthe best option for a Blu-Ray player. But it's not just a blue-ray player, it's also used to play PS3 games. If you have PS2 games, you can play them too.

In my opinion, it would be the best option to buy a PS3. Much cheaper too

I can't see how it would be cheaper to buy a PS3 over buying a standalone Blu-Ray player. It is about twice the price.

The technology inside PS3s are very good at de-interlacing and decoding high definition video, but the downside is that it is very noisy (with the fans) and the uses a lot of power. These are important things to consider - in the long run, it may be much more expensive due to the energy consumption costs, and no-one wants a fan spoiling a movie.

PS3 are aroudn $600 here in the US, still. There is a rumor floating around about a price cut though. Anyway, that is about 2x more expensive than a blu ray player. Anyway, the PS3 will play Blu Ray dics just as well as any other player, if not better. You'll also get a webbrowser in the PS3 so you can surf the web without ever turning on any other device.

You are correct: PlayStation 3 Core System - 80GB : Target I suppose the price drop is not a rumor! Interesting thing is, why is Target website loading images from Amazon?

Who knows. I wonder if they have some partnership?

That's close to the same price in Australia if you do the currency conversion.

I haven't read anything between the two but I suppose it is possible. Maybe target can't afford the bandwidth usage and is stealing from Amazon, hahaha
