What is the need of Software Securtiy ?

Please tell me what is the need of Software security for our computers. What a cracker will gain by breaching our software security ??? Any software that needs our special attention , than please mention it.

You need software security to keep your information safe. In most cases, for home users, security prevents malicious viruses. Viruses can do a range of things such as deleting files, stealing information and preventing your OS from operating correctly.

You need security in your own software to prevent it from being stolen. More people stealing your software equals less people buying your software equals less money. Most software will be cracked eventually though so you need to stay on top of it.

If your software gets cracked, it can be destroyed so you can't use it again. Worse, personal information can be stolen which can be utilized for identity theft.

Software security like encryption is very important for shareware, and people will not be able to edit your programs and make them their own (while you have done the hard work)

3 million attacks from china on our critical government systems a day and you have to ask such a crazy question. Dude you don't even need to be left around a computer, your to easy to hack. :P

Well, I encrypt and obfuscate like a maniac, but only when I think it's necessary, e.g. for security/password applications. For my "Super 2D Snake" Games (fictional example) I just run it through some simple obfuscator to show hackers that they are not welcome. If they REALLY want to crack/hack it, they will anyway. How can I stop them...
