Meta tags cannot protect your site they describe your site but don't provide any protection.

If you have an insecure script then their is nothing your host can do. The best thing to do is make your script as secure as possible.

Just check your root and check whether the first line is changed. Our website was also hacked and later we found that the first line of the program is altered and later we fixed it. Feel free to drop questions further.

What's wrong with a normal meta redirect, in case the user doesn't have JS enabled?

Well, I don't know lol.. after the website got hacked I was so pissed and that was the first thing that came into my mind... so there it is...

Still, would not make a diff to me.. at least he will see a blank page, not the actual files stored in that directory.

But still - it's better for JS-disabled browsers lol. Just a simple meta redirect would suffice.
